Boba continues his journey into the progressive and melodic depths of worldwide breakbeat
This week we check the incredible progressive melodic breakbeat sounds coming out of Poland. Monojoke has had a swarm of releases and remixes over the last four years: this is one producer who's a must to check it out if you like
your music progressive, deep and full of emotion. But if you know your melodic breakbeat then you already have.
Each production he unleashes on us always brings something completely original and different and keeps
pushing the boundaries with this ever growing style and sound. I am a mahoosive fan of his work and this is
one producer who always gets me excited to hear what he's created next.
I dont think there is one Monojoke breakbeat production I dont have in the drive bag and I will always pull them out when in need of a bit of inspiration. Below I have put a couple of his latest productions for you to lose yourself in, two complete masterpieces in my book. Jacek was also kind enough to take some time out to tell us a bit about himself below.
Artie Flexs - Down The Groove (Monojoke Remix) by Spring Tube label
Derek Howell - Stride (Monojoke Remix) [SILK041] by silkmusic
For the people who dont know you, tell us about Monojoke ...
Hi, I'm Jacek, I'm 28 years old and I live in Poland. You know me as Monojoke. I'm a music producer. It's my hobby and I treat it just as fun.
How long have you been making music, and what made you start producing breakbeat?
I started making music about 10 years ago. It all started when listening to artists such as Nick Warren, Sasha, Luke Chable, Shiloh and others. I decided to find out what it was all about. The beginnings were difficult, there was no such tools we have today. The first contacts I had with music software were appalling, but persistence has allowed me
to become familiar with this subject enough to make music. Initially I wanted to create progressive house, but I realised that I like the breaks more. This resulted in the signing of several contracts and the assurance of songs in many genres.
What other production can we expect from you in the future?
Together with the label Spring Tube we are working on a remix contest for Findremix.com. We should start somewhere around August. New single Surreal Things with remixes by famous musicians is waiting for release. In preparation I have also a few remixes.
Tell us a bit about your background outside of music?
As I wrote I live in Poland, I finished university, specializing in electrical engineering.
Now I work in the Polish railways as an inspector for the energy sector. Besides, I like the
typical things like travel and cycling.
What is your studio set up and what is your favourite piece of kit?
For a long time I create music using FL Studio. I knew it when he was a Fruity Loops version 3.
Perhaps this is not the best and not the easiest software in the market, but I tried others and
I could not get used to. Now we have a lot of software, a lot of plug-ins,
instruments and effects. It's hard to say what is best. Currently, even the free apps make it
possible to create professional-quality sound. Making music is limited only by your imagination.
Name 3 breakbeat tunes that is blowing you away at the moment?
The first track is a remix of my Surreal Things made by Abdomen Burst. I am impressed with his
production. The second is a remix of Abdomen Burst - Karkelure made by Aeron Aether. Reminds me
of the glory days of progressive music. The third is a remix of Elfsong - Eta Carinae made by
Aeron Aether.
Final word from Monojoke?
I would like to thank all who like my music. Wish me luck and motivation for further work!
