Trukers - Promising [BRSK010] by Breaks.sk Records

For the people who don’t know you, tell us about Macho ...

Macho is my nickname, which was created at school years ago and then I have also chosen it for my music production and DJ career. It is not that Spanish word - it is an abbreviation of my last name. I am also part of another music project called Brabeats.

As head boss man of Breaks.sk, tell us a bit about the label and how it all started ...

Label started in the end of 2009. Breaks.sk was firstly magazine about breakbeat music (from 2007). Original idea was to create label for Slovak producers, but I figured out that we have lack of breakbeat producers here in Slovakia. So now it is small label for all kind of breaks and as typical breakbeat label has problem to sell tunes.

Tell us a bit about your background in and outside of music?

I work as web developer in small company in capital city of Slovakia - Bratislava. Web applications and all stuff around that. And also do some small things in web design (design for label breaks.sk, releases). I live with my girlfriend - Djane Tracy. Our latest project is moderated podcast, where are short news from breakbeat scene in Slovak language and then mixed sets. Recently I write articles in Slovak magazine about electronic music. You have had various releases on different labels. How come?

I prefer more labels. Every label has some different contacts, does different promos, etc. So more labels = you can spread your music in more directions. Also each label has its own schedule, so if you are on more labels, you can release more tunes.

What is brewing in the future for Macho and Breaks.sk?

Remixes on Vim Records, Raveart Records, Breaks.sk. also some originals, collabs with Tracy, new tunes with Brabeats, gigs in Austria, Czech republic and Slovakia. If you are interested, just join me on
www.facebook.com/machobreakbeat.

On Breaks.sk - wicked tunes and remixes from Analogeeks, Home Alone, Killreall, Andy Faze, Vida G and finally also from another Slovak project, Ear Drum Kru.

What is your studio set up and what is your favourite weapon?

Not big. I produce on laptop with external soundcard and maudio controller. And lot of VSTs.

Three big breakbeat tunes that are blowing your head off right now?

Difficult question ... I will names some artists which music i like currently - Freestylers, Beatman and Ludmilla, Kultur, Colombo, BSD, Retroid, Hedflux, Elite Force and lot more.

Who inside the breakbeat world and outside would you love to collaborate with?

Another difficult question. I will not write any name, but collaborations are very good idea. Every producer has its own workflow and ideas, you can learn a lot from it. Generally I am opened to collaborations, only disadvantage is, that is time consuming, if you want to do tune with someone at the same time.

Final words to the people who are reading this?

Firstly thanks for reading this interview, thanks to everyone who listen to my music. I have prepared short mix for you. And if you live in Vienna, Prague or Slovakia you can check me also on gig in the near future.
